Bio

Born in Novi Sad Serbia where he started his musical journey learning to play classical piano at the local music school “Josip Slavenski”. A little later he began playing drums and joined local bands. Around the same time Igor studied drums with several local teachers/drummers and played many different types of music and styles (from traditional folk to jazz and rock).

In the mid 90’s he moved to Amsterdam and quickly captured a spot in the local scene. This resulted in many performances in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Austria, Italy, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, and several CD releases, radio and TV performances.

He studied drums at the jazz department of the Conservatory of Utrecht and Amsterdam. During  his study he started teaching drums at local music schools and privately. He graduated with both bachelor and master degree.

During his study he had lessons and master classes from David Weiss, Joost Kesselaar, Lucas van Merwijk, John Riley, Gene Jackson, Ernesto Simpson, Henry Cole, Steve Smith, Steve Gadd, Ari Hoenig, Joey Baron, Horacio Hernandez, Jim Black, Dre Pallemaerts, Billy Martin, Kiko Freitas, Gerardo Rosales, Hans van Oosterhout, Arno van Nieuwenhuizen, Andre Groen and others.

Nowadays besides teaching private students in his own studio at the Melodyline in Amsterdam and at the Muziekpakhuis, Igor is regularly performing with Branko Galoić & Skakavac Orkestar, Raromski and various bands in a different styles from pop to rock and jazz. He is also working as a freelance drummer as well live as in the studio. He participated in various theatre productions: “De Heks van de Franscheschool”, “De Luchtwachters”, “Happy Days” and others.
